Dutch Walloon Broadsword, ca. 1650
Blackened iron hilt with knucklebow screwed to the ovoid pommel with button; two large asymmetrical side rings, each filled with a plate pierced with circular holes (dents). Large scrolled reverse quillon stamped with a floret like those carried by the Amsterdam Town Guard. Thumb ring on reverse and wood grip wrapped with iron wire and held in place by ferrules top and bottom. Straight double-edged 34" blade with no visible markings and long central fuller (showing light pitting and forging laminations). OAL 40".
