English Gilt Court Sword, ca. 1810-1820
Gilt cast brass hilt with flattened urn-shaped pommel, featuring a shell guard with finely detailed coronet with acanthus wreath, decorated ensuite with lines of varying sizes of balls in high relief. Slender hollow ground triangular-section 31 ½" blade etched with foliage and the maker’s name "HILL/BROTHERS/OLD BOND/-ST-/LONDON/-W-". Original black leather scabbard with engraved gilt brass mounts, the leather showing much wear and broken at the tip, but all original parts present. The sword in very good plus condition, the scabbard only fair. Overall length 37 1/4".
