Japanese Samurai Armour, Early Edo (17th C)
Attractive armour featuring a quality 32 plate kabuto
(helmet) with copper fukerin (piping). Dou (cuirass) with matching fukerin.
Original silk binding and trim (some worn and broken). Matching sode
(shoulder guards). Period kote (arm guards) of plate, silk, and mail,
matching the haidate (thigh guards) and suneate (greaves or shin guards, not
pictured). Major parts (helmet, cuirass, shoulder, and thigh) homogeneous
and in original condition. Arm and leg defenses of the same period and
matching, but not from the same suit. Later Edo hampo (face guard) and
maedate (helmet crest). Very good condition for its age, with some lacquer
loss and worn linings. No replaced parts. Comes in its original wood box
with iron handles. Most Japanese armours on the market are highly
composed and consist of multiple replaced and/or heavily restored parts.
Black painted oak stand included.
