Japanese WWII Yardstick Mine

Pacific battlefield recovery, rendered inert. Known as a Yardstick Mine or Bangalor Torpedo, this mine was attached to lengths of pipe and pushed under barbed wire or other obstructions from a protected position, then detonated remotely. Oval-section steel tube with end caps, 36" long (hence the name "Yardstick Mine"); detonator plug on one end. Shows effects of lying on a battlefield for a long time, with numerous small rust holes and sections missing from one end cap. Very few of these are still in existence. One was recently featured on the popular TV show "Pawn Stars" as part of a US bomb disposal training kit.
