Original wood shaft, covered with cord and leather and finished with riveted end cap; forged iron ferrule with integral hook attaching two chains formed of twisted links. Each chain ends with an iron paw of 4 claws, each turned in a different direction to ensure one will strike the target regardless of angle. Shows great age and forged lamination. Ultra-rare torture device in very good original condition. Probably of Germanic origin.
