Saxon Miner’s Guild Axe, 17th/18th C
Ebonized wood shaft inlaid with bone plaques depicting miners performing various tasks, Christ on a cross on upper spine, and two gentlemen at the base holding a large plaque bearing "Gluck-auf" (good luck). Unmarked offset axe blade of typical form, pierced with a keyhole slot and two groups of three holes. All inlays present and appear to be original. Very good original condition. Overall length 32 1/2".
