Description

Mohawk Indian fighting spike ax used during the French and Indian wars. Hand-forged
iron head of classic style with elliptical eye socket; 7″ long with 2 ½” convex cutting edge
and down-curved rear spike. Original hickory haft with rich dark brown age patina. A
heavy fighting weapon which certainly saw action during the Revolutionary War period.
Pictured in “Who’s Who in Indian Relics”, Vol. 9, page 293 and Vol 10 page 291.
Formerly in the Steve Fuller Collection. Overall length14 1/2″. In museum condition, and a
part of the Thomas Richards Collection for over thirty years.
