Description
The head consisting of 7 rounded forged iron flanges, each punched in the center with a large hole with scalloped edges, and copper-brazed to the shaft and secured with brazed collars top and bottom; brazed rounded cap and button on the top. Solid 9-sided iron shaft with a hole bored through the base and capped with a copper ring, through which a wrist strap would have been attached. Tapering round-section wood grip with spiral grooves and secured to the shaft with a brass ferrule. Overall length 20″ (50.8 cm), head diameter 3″ (76 mm), weight 27.5 ounces (780 g). Iron parts pitted, with dark patina; the wood grip with pleasing dark brown patina.
