Description
Featuring broad 10 ½” thrusting blade with pronounced medial ridge, slightly convex 4 1/4″
cutting edge to the axe blade, and downward-curving rear beak with upturned lugs; pierced
with a series of round holes arranged in rosette patterns. Integral 5 1/4″ conical ferrule;
mounted on later octagonal hardwood shaft. Does not appear to have ever had side straps.
Metal cleaned, showing lamination, forging flaws, and light pitting, with a few edge nicks to
the thrusting blade. Length of metal 19 1/8″, overall 88 3/4″.
