Description
Manufactured in December, 1943 by the firm of H.A. Framburg & Co., Chicago, this set contains 29 metal scale models of British Royal Navy warships. Each model is painted gray and mounted on a blue-painted wood board and housed inside a gray wood case with latch and rope handles. These were used to train military personnel to identify friendly warships to avoid firing upon their allies. The underside of the base of each model is marked with the name of the manufacturer, date of manufacture, and the name of the ship. Set includes everything from destroyer escorts to cruisers, aircraft carriers, and battle ships. Each ship’s base slides into a groove in the case and can be easily removed. Case measures 17” wide by 13 1/2” high, by 4” deep when closed, and opens to a width of 34 3/8”. Set weighs just over 14 pounds. Set is complete and shows normal handling wear to the case.
