Description
Introduced in 1933 to wear with the iconic “brown shirt” uniform of the SA ASturmabteilung@ (Storm detachment). The SA was the Nazi Party=s original paramilitary group which helped Hitler rise to power and remained active until the end of WWII. By the end of 1933 the SA boasted membership of more than 3 million men, though it was much reduced in size and power after AThe Night of the Long Knives@ where much of the leadership, including its powerful head, Ernst Rohm, were executed. This example with nickel-plated mounts on brown-painted scabbard with single carry ring. Nickel silver crossguard and pommel cap. Silver colored spread-wing eagle and swastika on the mahogany-finished wood grip. Blade with deeply etched “Alles fur Deutschland” on one side and F.W. HOLLER/SOLINGEN oval logo above RZM numbers “M7/33”. Blade with some gray spots and runner marks; markings sharp and clear, showing cross grain. Scabbard shows minor wear, retaining all of its original brown paint; scattered tiny paint spots on one side from a careless house paint job.
