Description
Cast brass 3-bar hilt with acanthus and floral decoration; silver grip with triple brass wire.
Double-fullered 34 ½” blade etched with stands of arms, shields, floral decoration, “US” and
“E PLURIBUS UNUM”; “IRON PROOF” on spine. Very light pitting and age staining and a
few shallow edge nicks. Browned steel two-ring scabbard with brass mounts decorated with
geometric and floral decoration. Very good overall condition. Cavalry officer’s sabres are
scarce to begin with and presentation grade ones even more so.
