Description
Hand-forged steel hammer head showing lamination and grain with integral curved rear
spike; finely decorated with inlaid copper panels engraved with floral designs. The shaft
entirely covered in sheet copper; the grip being one soldered piece and the central section
covered in spirally wrapped narrow strips of copper embossed with a series of punch dots.
Decorative copper end caps with a decorative turned steel finial at the base. Copper
retains a nice golden brown patina. Length of head 7″, overall 27″. A very fine and rare
example.
