Description
Axe blade with deeply concave cutting edge, pierced with a stylized St. Andrews Cross.
Down-curved rear beak pierced with three interconnected punched holes. Diamond-
section 23″ thrusting spike. Integral 12 ½” side straps secured with square-head nails and
round-head nails with brass rosettes to a 43″ section of later rectangular-section
hardwood shaft with molded corners. Metal showing light pitting and age staining.
Length of metal 39 ½”, overall length 70″.
