Description
Steel box, painted red on the interior (paint flaking), covered with black leather, with brass
attachment loops on both ends. Black leather cover flap bearing a gilt badge with crown
over multi-pointed star with central circle bearing Queen Victoria’s royal cypher, surrounded
by the words “HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE”, the motto of the Most Noble Order of the
Garter, the most prestigious British order of chivalry. Leather is dry with minor losses
around the edges of the box; cover flap complete, but detached from the box. Overall
length 6″, not including attachment loops, depth 1 7/8″.
