Description
One-piece cast bronze axe head, featuring angled 2 3/16″ convex cutting edge. Long round
socket with raised double ridge on the top, bottom, and back edge; the lower end deeply
angled. Excavated condition with mostly green patina and minor encrustation in the socket
and on one side. Length 5 3/8″ (136 mm), height 4 3/8″ (111 mm), thickness 1 1/4″ (32
mm), weight 11.55 ounces (328 g). The angled cutting edge and long socket likely indicates
it was intended more for battle than tool use.
