Introduced in 1933 to wear with the iconic “brown shirt” uniform of the SA ASturmabteilung@ (Storm detachment). The SA was the Nazi Party=s original paramilitary group which helped Hitler rise to power and remained active until the end of WWII. By the end of 1933 the SA boasted membership of more than 3 million men, though it was much reduced in size and power after AThe Night of the Long Knives@ where much of the leadership, including its powerful head, Ernst Rohm, were executed. This example with nickel silver mounts on brown-painted scabbard with single carry ring. Nickel silver crossguard and pommel cap. Gold colored spread-wing eagle and swastika on the mahogany-finished wood grip. Blade with deeply etched “Alles fur Deutschland” on one side and RZM numbers “M7/27” above the Puma, Soligen maker’s logo. Blade with scattered gray spots and runner marks; showing good cross grain. Scabbard shows typical wear, with a few small chips in the paint.
