Description
Munitions grade hilt of flattened iron bars, without piercings to the plates, the three main
bars connecting to a ring mounted below the pommel. Bun-shaped pommel with tall
integral button; old shagreen-covered grip with waxed sinew binding and brass ferrules top
and bottom. Remains of red tassel at the base of the pommel. Single-edged 32″ blade
with twin narrow fullers at the back edge, stamped twice on each side with “X ANDRIA X
FARARA X”, the tip rounded. Type of sword carried by English heavy cavalry in the
northern regions of the country. Metal with moderate pitting and gunmetal patina. Overall
length 38″.
