Description

Featuring one-piece skull with low comb, rounded visor and peaked neck lame; the edges
rolled and roped. Original cheek pieces with pierced holes in a rosette pattern. Retains
remnants of the original lining and all of its original rivets. Later stamped inventory marks
on the neck lame. It was common for Zeughausen (arsenals) in Germany and Switzerland
to maintain weapons and armor in usable condition well into the 19th C, long after they
became obsolete. It was likely that the inventory marks were stamped during that period.
Typical munitions-grade helmet showing hammer marks, in very good untouched condition
with even gray gunmetal patina.
