Description
Heavy two-piece construction with high comb, the brim rising to an acute point at each end
and featuring a roped border. Thick comb with filed notches along the top edge. Twelve
lining rivets (six on each side), retaining pieces of the original leather lining and five of its
original steel rosette washers. Very good cleaned condition with no rust-throughs. One
tight crack in the brim, which is common with these because the metal is stretched
extensively during the forging process. The inside showing hammer marks and dark
stabilized rust patina.
