Description
Iron head of diamond-section with square hammer face and 5″ curved spike; secured
to the shaft with a peened pyramidal cap. 5 1/8″ belt hook dovetailed into the head.
Tapering diamond-section shaft with square base stamped with cross-shaped maker’s
mark. Slightly tapered wood grip with cord and black leather wrap, likely the original,
secured with disc pommel and peened pyramidal cap. Disk-shaped guard with down-
turned triangular quick-draw belt catch pierced with rectangular hole for the attachment of a
wrist cord. Length of head 7 1/4″ (18.4 cm), overall length 21 5/8″ (55 cm), weight 2
pounds 2 ounces (970 g). Metal cleaned, showing wear and pitting.
