Description
Iron hilt with down-turned lobed guard incised with foliage (brazed copper repair). Ribbed wire-wrapped wood grip broadening toward the pommel and capped with a lobed disc with button; undisturbed peen. Double-edged 11 1/2” diamond-section blade with stamped cross and orb mark on the ricasso. Extremely rare original scabbard made of wood and covered with green textile and decorative pierced sheet iron cover with belt loop; the tip with large ovoid disc and button. Scabbard fitted for side knife, now absent. Blade with scattered pitting and rust marking. Overall length 16”, not including scabbard.
