Description
Iron hilt with down-curved quillons with decorative finials; single side ring with skull face in the center; six-sided conical pommel with button, chiseled with acanthus in low relief. Tapering leather-wrapped wood grip, secured with ferrules top and bottom. Diamond-section 9 3/4” (24.8 cm) double-edged blade with line-bordered ricasso stamped with a maker’s mark of a star over a cross in a shield. Metal with age staining; blade with patches of moderate pitting. Overall length 14 1/2” (36.8 cm).
