Description
Gilt brass hilt featuring reverse scroll quillon, p-shape guard with oak leaf decoration in
relief, lion-head pommel with red rinestone eyes and integral backstrap decorated with oak
leaves and a vacant oval escutcheon. Double langets, the obverse with closed-wing eagle
and swastika, the reverse with oak leaves and a vacant shield. Black bakelite pommel with
triple twisted brass wire wrap (minor damage to wire). Slightly curved 31″ (78.7 cm) single-
edged blade with broad 3/4 length fuller; the ricasso with knight’s head WKC logo for
Weyersberg. Kirschbaum & Company (1883-1999). The Weyersberg Family of Solngen
bladesmiths dates back to the 15th Century, Overall length 36″ (91.4 cm). Brass with age
stains and retaining about 80% of its original gilding. Blade with light scratches and minor
scattered pinprick pitting. Retains a portion of its original black leather portapee. No
scabbard.
