Description
Concave axe blade pierced with three clovers; downward angled rear beak with upturned point and hook on the upper side, stamped with an “HW” maker’s mark and a clover shaped piercing. Diamond-section 23″ thrusting spike; integrally forged side straps attached to a later hardwood shaft with molded edges. Length of metal 44″; overall 95″. Metal parts with scattered pitting and age staining; the spike with two areas of heavier pitting.
