Description
One-piece cast bronze mace head, featuring four segmented panels, each with ten
lozenge-shaped studs arranged in angled opposing rows of five each, with raised triple-line
borders on the sides, top, and bottom. Tapering round socket with raised baluster
decoration top and bottom and incised v-shaped border. Excavated condition with dark
green patina and minor encrustation in the socket and protected areas. Length 5 9/16″ (141
mm), diameter 1 5/8″ (41 mm), weight 12.85 ounces (365 g). Early decorated and effective
weapon.
