Description
Made from an empty German brass 7.7 cm shell casing and decorated with embossed
flowers and the word “SOUVENIR” on top and “1914-1918″ on the bottom on a stippled
background. The reverse with a raised vacant shield for adding a presentation inscription.
The base of the shell stamped “FN st. 120/JULI 1917/HI/27″. Primer removed and several
holes drilled top and bottom, possibly for later use as a lamp. The fact that the word
“Souvenir” adorns a German shell casing indicates the likelihood that the art was
performed by a French or American soldier on territory take back from the Germans.
Price includes domestic US shipping.
