Description
Featuring cast brass hilt, comprising asymmetrical chiseled and pierced shell guard, small pas d’ane, reverse scroll quillon, and knuckle guard with central decoration, joining the ovoid pommel with button; all decorated ensuite with classical human figures in relief. Leather-covered (worn) wood grip with twisted brass wire wrap. Several braised repairs to the hilt. Hollow-ground triangular-section 26 1/4” (66.6 cm) blade, the upper quarter engraved with Neoclassical design depicting a turbaned Turk on one side. Blade with patches of light pitting and age staining, primarily toward the point. Engravings mostly clear. Overall length 32 1/2” (82.5 cm).
