Description
Featuring cast brass hilt with detailed simulated wire grip, asymmetrical shell guards
(obverse bent, perhaps intentionally), integral knuckle bow, and spherical pommel with
button. Straight 32 3/8″ single-edged blade with full-length fuller; the ricasso stamped
“Made by/AMES MFG Co./CHICOPEE/MASS” (MASS very weak) on one side and
“US/JH/1864″ (the “4″ very weak). In its original leather scabbard with brass drag stamped
with a “C” and throat with belt hook (leather flaking and broken at drag). Metal and leather
bright. Overall length 38 ½”, not including scabbard.
