Description
Iron basket hilt comprising large lightly chiseled solid guard with broad scrolled reverse
quillon; tapering knuckle bow with two diagonal bars joining a bifurcated side bar on
each side. Knuckle bow and side bars each riveted to the fluted ovoid pommel. Spiral-
carved horn grip and thick leather guard liner. Double-edged 31″ blade with a pair of
narrow full-length fullers, indistinctly stamped with “ANDREA” and “FERARA”. Blade
worn and pitted overall with clipped point. Uncleaned, showing hard use and great age,
as this type often exhibits. Overall length 37″.
