Description
Featuring iron hilt with P-shaped guard with scroll quillon and decorative half langets,
connected to the capstan pommel with integral backstrap. Ribbed leather-covered grip
with double strands of twisted copper wire wrap. Single-edged 32 1/4″ blade with broad
single fuller and spear point, beautifully etched with stands of arms and the cypher of
Bavarian King Maximilian II Joseph (1811-1864, reigned 1848-1864). Acanthus etching on
the spine. Iron scabbard with decorative twin carrying rings, throat, and drag. Overall
length 37 1/4″. Very good condition with excellent bright blade showing sharp and clear
etching of exceptional quality and detail.
