Description

The Yakoma are an ethnic group with an estimated population of 160,000, living in the southern part of the Central African Republic. This knife features a forged iron 7 1/2″ blade, expanding toward the point, with shallow medial ridge with hatched decoration. Thick ricasso of usual form, but not pierced as often found. One-piece wood grip wrapped with iron banding and twisted iron wire near the pommel. Metal with dark mottled rust patina, wood with minor losses and a rich dark brow patina. Very similar to Fig. 130 in “Afrikanische Waffen”, by Fischer & Zirngibl. Overall length 12 1/4″. Dark age/rust patina overall.
