Description
Body formed of flattened greenish horn, with incised triple-line borders; the spout carved in the shape of a duck’s head with inserted eyes. Original wood stopper with vent pick. Attached to the body with screws is an iron fitting with three square-shaped openings to serve as wheellock spanners; the fitting decorated with classical foliage. Flat iron butt cap with scalloped edge. Repair to bottom corner of the horn body. 9 1/2” (24 cm) high by 1 1/2” (3.8 cm) thick. Interesting and unique German or Austrian hunting accessory.
