Description
Steel head featuring 4″ convex axe blade engraved with geometric designs and borders;
square hammer head on reverse. Brass cap and collar with embossed and engraved
decoration. Wooden haft covered with old textured textile (somewhat threadbare); brass
grip decorated ensuite with the collar and featuring a small loop at the base for attachment
of a retaining strap or cord. Overall length 25 ½”. Steel with light pitting and age staining,
showing lamination. Possibly from the Balkans and shows Turkish influence.
