“Roman” style lock with border engraved flat lockplate, signed on the back “PAP” in script.
Long (13 1/8″) three-stage 9mm smoothbore barrel with brass cannon muzzle, signed
“Lazarino Cominazzo” (signature worn) on the top flat of breech. Beautifully figured
walnut full stock. Brass mounts finely engraved with classical designs; consisting of
trigger guard, side plate, ramrod thimbles, escutcheon, and butt cap with grotesque mask.
Steel belt hook on reverse. Original brass-tipped wood ramrod. Very good condition, with
minor wear to metal and minor bruises to wood stock. The Cominazzo family of Brescia
are perhaps the finest and best known barrel makers of all time. Overall length 19 1/8″.
