Description
Large cup with scalloped edge, featuring eight petal-shaped panels pierced and chiseled
with acanthus decoration. Straight quillons with turned finials, integral knucklebow and pas
d’ane screwed to the cup. Ovoid pommel with large button, chiseled with acanthus
decoration. Spiral grip with twisted and straight iron wire wrap and turks heads. Hexagonal-
section 41 ½” blade with 8 ½” central fuller, stamped with illegible inscription, showing age,
lamination, and pitting. Overall length 49 3/4″. Metal parts showing wear and pitting, but
generally very good overall condition.
