Description
Exceptional quality and condition, the solid silver hilt features symmetrical shell guard, pas d’ane, solid grip, knucklebow, and ovoid pommel with button; decorated ensuite with shell motif and stamped with Paris hallmarks. The hollow-ground triangular-section 31″blade is engraved with floral decoration, a female figure, and “Paris” in script. Leather covered scabbard with silver-plated mounts (mounts likely original, the leather later). Hilt near excellent; the blade with some age staining and minor wear to engraving. Overall length 37 1/4″. These fragile smallswords rarely survive in this fine condition.
