Description
Featuring gilt brass hilt, comprising short vertically recurved quillons with dog-head finials; down-turned guard pierced and decorated with a sea serpent; tapering horn grip with three decorative blade rivets; base ferrule and pommel cap depicting lion in relief. Slender, straight 16 1/2” (42 cm) single-edged blade with broad and narrow fullers and long ricasso with decorative engravings on both sides. Guard near excellent, horn grip with wear and small cracks, blade worn and pitted. Overall length 21 1/4” (54 cm). Similar examples featured in George Neumann’s “Swords and Blades of the American Revolution”. No scabbard.
