Description
Featuring slightly tapered hollow forged iron shaft with incised line decoration and brazed
copper seam; pierced with hole for wrist cord. Integral handle with spiral grip flutes and
fluted conical pommel. Head with seven copper-brazed flanges shaped with triangular
striking surface and rounded lobes on each end; chiseled acorn finial. Metal cleaned,
showing pitting, lamination and a dark gunmetal patina. Overall length 25 3/8″ (64.5 cm),
weight 3 pounds 3 ounces (1440 g). Complete and original 16th C battle mace of typical
German style.
