Description
A Javanese Keris Solo dagger from the Kamardikan period (contemporary). Asal (origin):
Surakarta (Patrem). The Keris with a hand forged ‘3 Luk’ waved Wilah (blade), consists of
Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Buntel Mayit’). Dapur in
‘Jangkung’ (Elephant trunk shape). Gilded nickel Mendak (cuff) between hilt and blade of
‘Kendit’ type with inset gems. Ukiran (hilt) in ‘Jejeran Yudo Winatan’ shape, and carved
from Cendana Jawa wood. Warangka (scabbard throat) of ‘Ladrang Ksatriyan’ type (boat-
shaped) and also made from hand-carved Cendana Jawa wood. Gandar (scabbard body)
with 24K gilded Pendok (cover), the smooth Blewah Polos with Tombak and decorated
with ‘Modang’ pattern. Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 9 3/4″;
overall length 11″.
