Description
Cast 19th C brass hilt of typical form comprising flat bars and plates pierced with circles,
hearts, and four-leafed clovers. Domed brass pommel segmented into quarters by four
sets of triple flutes; topped with an iron button. Leather-wrapped grip (small tear) with
twisted brass wire and a brass ferrule at the base. Earlier broad 35″ double-edged blade
with triple fullers, stamped on each side with back-to-back man-in-the-moon marks. Brass
hilt with dark brown-black patina; the blade with light pitting, rust marking, and a few
shallow edge nicks. Overall length 40 3/4″.
