Description
Featuring angled slightly concave axe blade pierced with three sets of punched round
holes in rosette pattern; slightly curved downward angled rear beak with four punched
holes and a stamped cross and orb maker’s mark. Diamond-section 10″ thrusting spike
with a chip missing from the point (see photo). Integrally forged side straps (one broken at
the forge weld with about 6 ½” missing) with decorative reinforcing band; mounted on later
octagonal hardwood shaft. Metal shows great age with pitting, dark age patina, lamination,
and forging flaws. Length of metal 28 3/4″; overall 84 3/4″. Price includes shipping in the
contiguous USA, the cost of which has doubled since Covid!
