Description
Hilt featuring sail guard with roped border, etched with a crowned shield depicting moon,
star, and fleur d lis with acanthus border on stippled background. Long, straight spiral
quillons with chiseled button finials; the pommel decorated ensuite. Spiral wood grip with
shagreen wrap bound with iron wire and secured with ferrules top and bottom. Double-
edged 14 7/8″ flattened diamond-section blade; the ricasso with pierced moon-shaped
cutouts, serrated edges, and thumb depression on the reverse. Very good condition with
light pitting and dark age patina. Overall length 19 1/4″.
