WWII Nazi German 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger

Description

Featuring alloy hilt with guard shaped as a spread-awing eagle clutching a swastika in its
talons; ovoid pommel with swastika in wreath, surrounded by oak leaves in low relief. Faux
ivory celluloid grip with twisted wire wrap. Silver bullion portapee. Bright 10″ blade of
flattened hexagonal section, showing cross grain and clear Eickhorn squirrel makers mark
on the ricasso. Original steel scabbard with two carry rings, with pebbled surface and oak
leaf decoration on drag and carry bands. Hilt near excellent, with traces of gilding on
pommel swastika. Blade excellent, showing clear cross grain and minor runner marks.
Scabbard with no dents and nickel plating remaining primarily in protected areas. An
excellent example, from the lifelong militaria collection of noted collector Karl Emil Gansberg
(12/26/1932 – 11/17/2025). Gansberg spent 27 years on active duty military service,
followed by 15 years civil service with the Department of Defense. He was an avid historian
and collector of wartime memorabilia, primarily from WWII.
