Description
Iron hilt of typical Scottish style formed with round bars and flat plates pierced with circles
and hearts, with a pair of bars looping below over the blade. Large reverse scroll quillon;
bun-shaped pommel with button, quartered by sets of 3 vertical grooves. Leather-covered
wood grip with twists of wide flat brass wire and secured by brass ferrules top and bottom;
original leather padding at the base of the guard. Broad unmarked single-edged 31 1/4″
triple-fullered blade, the middle fuller running nearly the entire length. Blade shows
lamination and light pitting; still retaining a sharp edge. Later black leather scabbard with
brass throat with button and drag, the throat marked “CONCEDO NULLI”. Very good
condition; overall length 37 1/4″, not including scabbard. The yellowish discoloration seen
in some of the photos is a reflection of the light. There is no discoloration of the metal.
