Elegant iron hilt of rare Type 76 form (from Norman’s classification), featuring long diagonally recurved quillons with chiseled orb finials. Pas d’ane with single shell guard pierced and chiseled with guilloche pattern framing rosettes. Three curved guard bars with central spheres chiseled ensuite, the lower two connecting to the quillon block and the upper to the knucklebow. Reverse with three bars connecting to the lower shell and the quillon block. Compressed spherical pommel chiseled ensuite with rosettes. Later grip with twisted iron and brass wire with turks heads. Slender tapered hexagonal-section 39 1/4" blade (lightly pitted). Overall length 44 ˝". Former Visser Collection, with painted inventory number on edge of ricasso. This exact sword is pictured in “The Visser Collection, Volume 1, Part 4", by deVries and Martens, catalog number 953.
