German Flintlock Pistol, Early 19th C

High quality tapered 7″ round barrel of 12 mm caliber with fine rifling and top flat,
beautifully signed along its full length in silver “Ulrich Roos in Stuttgart” in script and
bordered with silver floral scroll work; inlaid brass front bead sight. Unsigned lock with
engraved swan-neck cock and faceted pan and frizzen. Figured walnut stock with
checkered wrist and horn fore-end tip (minor bruises and ½” crack from breech to side
plate. Brass trigger guard, butt cap, ramrod thimbles, and two small side plates. Horn-
tipped wood ramrod. Blued lock screws and top jaw screw. Metal parts cleaned with
some scattered light pitting; action needs adjustment to stay on full cock. Attractive pistol
with exceptional barrel. Maker is not recorded in Stockel, but the style would indicate
manufacture during the first quarter of the 19th C. Overall length 12 1/4″.
