Description
Featuring canted slightly concave 9 ½” axe blade and 4″ slightly down-curved rear beak
punched with a single hole and flanked by stamped eyelash marks on both sides;
thickened armor-piercing 13″ diamond-section thrusting spike. Integrally forged 24 ½” side
straps, mounted on later hardwood shaft of rectangular section with rounded corners.
Length of metal 44″, overall length 84 ½”. Metal cleaned over light pitting and showing
lamination. The eyelash mark was common on weapons in the Austrian regions battling
the Ottoman Turks. Similar examples in the Landeszeughaus Graz, Austria. Price
