Description
Brass hilt with large down-turned shell guard depicting a lion face in relief, quillon with dog
head finial and dog face in low relief at the quillon block. Spirally twisted horn grip with
twisted brass wire wrap and brass ferrule at the base; shell-shaped pommel cap. Single-
edged 22″ (55.9 cm) blade with full-length fuller and remnants of etched decoration. Blade
cleaned over heavy corrosion; grip with chips and splits, missing one strand of the twisted
wire wrap. Overall length 27 1/4″ (69.2 cm).
