Description
From the Eastern Black Sea region, possibly Georgian, this classic example features a 2 1/8” (54 mm) wide, double-edged 14” (35.5 cm) blade with narrow central double fullers and a heart-shaped maker’s mark. Hilt with niello silver guard and pommel and octagonal wood grip. Original leather-covered wood scabbard with three-piece niello silver throat with iron carry ring and long decorative iron chape. Very good complete and original condition; the blade mostly smooth and very sharp, with minor pitting and small nicks on the edge; scabbard chape with gunmetal gray patina and scattered light pitting; niello silver mounts near excellent. Overall length 19 ½” (49.5 cm) , not including scabbard. Fine quality, yet very deadly dagger.
